Monet Tejada in 'Land of Lies’ Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 Episode 6
Show: Power Book II: Ghost | Season 3, Episode 6 | Network: Starz | Aired: April 21, 2023
Land of Lies. In the world of Power Book II: Ghost every character is lying to someone at every moment. But this episode puts the spotlight on the lies that are holding the Tejada family together and the lies that are quietly tearing it apart.
The Episode
After Lorenzo's death in Episode 5, the Tejada family is at the brink of war and everyone is working with the Castillos to figure out who is responsible and what happens next. Monet is making her play to reestablish control of the business in the power vacuum that Lorenzo's death has created. And she is doing it with the same focus and ruthlessness that has always defined her.
Tariq is teaming up with Tate to plot retaliation. Brayden has uncovered a secret that could jeopardize everything. And the federal investigation is tightening around all of them. It is a lot happening simultaneously and the show handles it with the pacing that makes it so addictive.

Monet's Power Play
The most important thing happening in this episode for Monet is her move to take control. Lorenzo is gone. There is a vacuum. And Monet has been waiting, whether consciously or not, for exactly this moment her entire life. She built this empire. She ran it while Lorenzo was in prison. She kept it going through every crisis. And now there is nobody above her.
Mary plays Monet's assumption of full power with a combination of satisfaction and grief that is perfectly balanced. This is what she always deserved. And she is taking it at the worst possible moment, in the worst possible circumstances. That contradiction is what makes Monet Tejada one of the most fascinating characters on television.
The Lies
What is particularly interesting about Land of Lies is how it shows the specific lies each character is maintaining and the cost of maintaining them. Monet's lies have always been strategic. But in this episode you start to see how exhausting it is to keep all of them in the air. Mary shows the weight of that without ever letting Monet seem weak. The strength required to carry that many lies is itself a kind of power.
