Monet Tejada in 'The Prince’ Power Book II: Ghost Season 1 Episode 4
Show: Power Book II: Ghost | Season 1, Episode 4 | Network: Starz | Aired: September 27, 2020
Every empire needs a prince. But in the Tejada world, the queen is the one who decides who gets to wear that crown. And Monet Tejada is not handing it out lightly.
The Episode
Episode 4 continues to build the complex web of relationships that make this show so addictive. Tariq is trying to find his footing in the Tejada operation. Cane is bristling under Monet's authority as always. And Monet is watching all of it with those calculating eyes, making moves that nobody else in the room even knows she is making.
The title of this episode speaks directly to the question of succession and power. Who is the prince of this operation? Who is being groomed? And more importantly, who decides? The answer, as always in this show, is Monet. It is always Monet.

Cane and Monet
The friction between Cane and Monet is on full display in this episode. Cane is explosive, impulsive, and operates on ego. Monet is measured, strategic, and operates on intelligence. They are constantly at odds not because they do not love each other but because they approach the world in fundamentally different ways. Watching Mary and Woody McClain navigate that dynamic is one of the great pleasures of this show.
What Mary Brings
There is a scene in this episode where Monet is essentially managing four different problems simultaneously and you can see in Mary's performance that Monet is tracking all of them at once. She is present in every conversation she is having while also thinking three conversations ahead. That kind of layered acting is incredibly hard to do and Mary makes it look effortless.
The Prince is an episode that keeps building the foundation of who Monet is. By this point in the season I was completely hooked and it was largely because of Mary.
