Uh oh. Monet is NOT playing with you. I said what I said back in August 2020 and I meant every single word. It was time for Tariq to create his own legacy. And what a legacy it turned out to be.
Power Book II: Ghost premiered on September 6, 2020 on Starz and from the very first episode Mary J. Blige as Monet Tejada made it absolutely clear that nobody in this show — not Tariq, not Lorenzo, not Cane, not anybody — was smarter than her. Nobody.
This was my first hype post for the show. I was ready. I was excited. And I had absolutely no idea how extraordinary the next four seasons were going to be.
Monet Tejada. The Queen. The matriarch. The woman who ran the Tejada empire while everyone around her underestimated her. The woman who loved her children fiercely and held them accountable ruthlessly at the same time. The woman whose last words were My babies.
