Monet Tejada in 'Deal or No Deal’ Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 Episode 7

Show: Power Book II: Ghost | Season 3, Episode 7 | Network: Starz |  Aired: April 28, 2023

Deal or no deal. In Monet Tejada's world every interaction is a negotiation. Every alliance is conditional. Every loyalty has a price. And this episode puts her negotiating skills front and center in a way that reminds you why she has survived longer than almost anyone else in this game.

The Episode

The feds are applying pressure to get their suspect to flip. Dru's erratic behavior is growing more alarming and is leading the Castillos to grow suspicious of the entire Tejada operation. And Tate is preparing to go up against his political opponent while Harper keeps digging into his ethics.

But the Monet material in this episode is what commands attention. She is in full deal-making mode. Every scene she is in involves her calculating the value of what she is offering versus what she is getting in return. No transaction in Monet's world is ever purely emotional. Everything has terms.

Monet and the Feds

The federal pressure building around the Tejada operation is one of the defining tensions of Season 3. Whitman is smart and he is getting closer. Monet knows it. And the way she responds to that pressure, making deals to insulate herself while keeping the operation moving, is masterful.

What makes Monet's deal-making so interesting to watch is that she never tips her hand completely. She always holds something back. She always has one more card to play. Mary plays that strategic reserve with such precision. You are always aware that what you are seeing is not the full picture of what Monet is thinking.

A Loaded Episode

Deal or No Deal is one of those episodes that feels like a long chess match. Every scene is a move. Every conversation is a position being established or defended. And at the center of the board as always is Monet Tejada, the Queen. I love this show so much and episodes like this are exactly why.
