Monet Tejada in 'Birthright’ Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 Episode 3
Show: Power Book II: Ghost | Season 4, Episode 3 | Network: Starz | Aired: June 21, 2024
Birthright. What does Monet Tejada consider her birthright? She built this empire from nothing. She bled for it. She gave up pieces of herself for it. And now in the final season she is watching the people she built it for be dishonest with her. She realizes in this episode that her kids might not be telling her the whole truth. And for Monet that is not just a personal betrayal. It is a threat to everything.
The Episode
Episode 3 has Tariq and Brayden looking for a way into a vicious new connect's operation while Monet is reading the room at home and not liking what she is seeing. Her instincts have kept her alive for decades and those instincts are telling her that Dru and Diana are hiding something.
Detective Carter's task force is also digging deeper into Tariq's connection to Noma's operation and the federal heat is building. Monet is aware of all of this. She tracks every threat like a chess grandmaster and she is constantly updating her read of the board.
The Birthright Idea
The title connects to something the Season 4 Fandom wiki noted: Season 4 reveals that Monet was the one who originally brought her kids into the drug game, since they were toddlers. Lorenzo was actually against it. So the birthright she gave them, the life in the Tejada operation, was her decision. Her gift to them. And now that gift is becoming a weapon being used against her.
Mary plays the dawning awareness of her children's dishonesty with a quiet devastation that is one of the best things she does in the early episodes of this season. No big scenes. No confrontations yet. Just the slow, painful realization of a mother who knows her children better than they know themselves.
What Monet Was Wearing
Skims Long Sleeve T-Shirt. Louis Vuitton Monogram Mink Hooded Bomber Jacket. Van Cleef and Arpels Choker. Schiaparelli Sun Buckle Belt. Sister Love @sisterlovemjb Studded Empress Hoops.
The Louis Vuitton Mink Hooded Bomber is back and I am not mad about it. This jacket is Monet's armor in Season 4. The Schiaparelli Sun Buckle Belt is the detail that elevates the whole look. Schiaparelli is one of the most artistic fashion houses in the world and putting Monet in their pieces says she is not just wealthy. She is cultured. She is a woman of taste and power. And the Studded Empress Hoops from Sister Love? The word Empress was chosen intentionally. Because that is exactly who she is.
